I am no one. I am just a Born again Christian who has had my faith tested like never before and was called to do this. I have called his office and sent e-mails, and wrote blogs but God is inspiring me to write once more.
Everything I write does not only apply to Rev. Graham, the most powerful evangelical leader in the nation. It applies to every tv pundit, pastor, teacher, every Christian of every stripe who finds this.
Dear Brother Graham,
I was inspired to write this after reading about a movie that your charity Samaritan’s Purse is putting out. “Facing Darkness” is a movie about brave Christian missionaries fighting Ebola in Africa. I don’t think it will come to theaters in Madison WI, the birthplace of the Freedom From Religion Foundation but I will try to see if I can catch it on demand. This lent I am planning on watching movies about brave men from the Bible as well as brave Christians who fought injustice and tyranny. The first one being Jeremiah with Patrick Dempsey. This is one of the best Biblical films I have seen that didn’t chronicle Jesus.
I am writing because of Jeremiah. He was a prophet. He was my favorite Old Testament Prophet. He spoke against crooked kings and false prophets. He faced danger, he was mocked, he was thrown down into a well. But he always spoke God’s truth.
You talk about secularism and the dangers of it. You are speaking out against Disney and Beauty and the Beast. But this is not the fight you should be fighting. It would be like Jeremiah speaking out against a blasphemous puppet show while ignoring the wickedness that was going around and was going to bring ruin to the Kingdom of Judah.
The secular media is having a field day with your feud with Disney. They won’t mention your movie. They are mocking you. But not because you are fighting for Christ but because you are attacking a movie that has one ambiguous scene in it while supporting a man who bragged about committing adultery and chasing after a married woman. You can say that he repented but his words were
“We are losing our jobs, we are less safe than we were eight years ago and Washington is totally broken. Hillary Clinton and her kind have run our country into the ground. I’ve said some foolish things, but there’s a big difference between the words and actions of other people. Bill Clinton has actually abused women, and Hillary has bullied, attacked, shamed and intimidated his victims. We will discuss this more in the coming days. See you at the debate on Sunday.”
His words were foolish but he was talking about actions. Things that he did. He didn’t apologize for chasing after a married woman. He apologized for talking about it. And then hypocritically attacking the Clintons.
Now I think the Clintons are one of the most corrupt political families in American history But you made a deal with a devil to stop them. He has lied about crowd size. He has lied about voter fraud. He may be lying about the Russians. His immigration policy is breaking up families and is hurting people. And yes Mercy to foreigners is a Bible issue.
It is time to be a man. It is time to gird up your loins and admit your mistake and speak out against our “King Ahab”. I know that I am mixing Biblical prophets. King Ahab was long dead before Jeremiah came along.
But I use that king because in a way, you are my white whale, Rev. Graham. You are a man with such gifts. You are a man who if you decided could use the gifts that both your Heavenly Father and earthly father gave you could help bring about a third great awakening.
I have e-mailed. I have called. I even was going to stand up while you spoke in my Capital but one of your chaplain’s convinced me not to and I regret that to this day.
You want to fight secularism. You want to fight the attack on Christianity. Don’t attack Disney. Don’t attack the “pagan” world. Attack their weapon. Attack the cancer that has infected the American Church. If you speak up against Trump using the Holy Word of God. The secular media will have to pay attention. This fight would help spread the Gospel more than any Festival of Hope.
And yes if you do this, Trump will hate you. He will attack you. He may even use his government powers to attack you. You will lose friends and family. Donations will dry up. But you will be a man of God. And remember what our Lord Jesus said in Luke 6
Blessed are you when people hate you,
when they exclude you and insult you
and reject your name as evil,
because of the Son of Man.
23 “Rejoice in that day and leap for joy, because great is your reward in heaven. For that is how their ancestors treated the prophets.
They will treat you like Jeremiah, they will treat you like Jesus. But He will be with you. As will I. I know that you love God. You just let politics lead you astray. Come back and be the prophetic voice that you know God put you on earth to be. The time has come to gird up your loins and become him.
Jeremiah 1
17 Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them.
18 For, behold, I have made thee this day a defenced city, and an iron pillar, and brasen walls against the whole land, against the kings of Judah, against the princes thereof, against the priests thereof, and against the people of the land.
19 And they shall fight against thee; but they shall not prevail against thee; for I am with thee, saith the Lord, to deliver thee.
And to any brother or sister of Christ who has read this. Gird them up as well. Blow the atheists’ minds. Be a prophetic voice in your hometown.
