The Reverend Billy Graham had a radio show called the Hour of Decision where he shared the Gospel and spoke out against the evils of the world. He spoke out against communism and about how it is an anti-Christian spirit filled ideology. He was right.
But there is another danger now and it is not secularism. Secularism is part of it. But it is not the driving danger. The danger is the grand apostasy of our age. It is a Christianity with no Christ. It is worse than communism. Communism is an atheist ideology. But the most pressing danger to America as well as the Christian faith is the hollow Christianity that does not value humility, mercy, nor justice.
Yes Franklin Graham may speak of Christ and salvation. He may speak out about how the only way our nation can heal is if we come back to Christian values. But right now they are just words. Hollow words. Hollow hypocritical words. Words that preach to the choir. Words that may bring people to confess in Christ because they don’t want to go to Hell or they want the eternal rewards that faith will bring. But they won’t come to Christ and allow the Holy Spirit to transform them.
Secularists, those that Graham consider his enemy see him speaking up about Christ while propping up the policies and either condoning or looking the other way about the sins of one of our most unChristian presidents we have ever had. They then have their lack of faith justified and the more militant of secularists lump all the faithful with the bad apples.
I am going to quote Apostle Paul quoting the prophet Isaiah. God’s name is blasp
1 Romans 2
23 You who boast in the law, do you dishonor God by breaking the law? 24 As it is written: “God’s name is blasphemed among the Gentiles because of you.”[a]
I could say you Rev. Graham who boasts in the saving redemptive power of Jesus Christ, do you dishonor Him by denying his teachings and supporting the opposite?
Graham is not a bad man. I do not believe that he is unredeemably lost. I believe that he has just gone astray. I believe that he doesn’t know what he is doing. I believe that the devil is using his fear and hatred of secularism to actually advance it’s cause.
I am an evangelical Christian. I believe in God. I believe in Jesus Christ. But I also believe in the devil who tries to undermine everything that God is doing.
He attacks from two fronts. He always has played one evil off of another. He used this when Jesus was crucified. He attacked from the pagan self centered Roman Empire and the corrupt self righteous Pharisees and scribes. He is doing the same today.
So I am taking this month as my crusade. Just like Franklin Graham’s father went to packed stadiums crusading for Christ. I am taking to the internet. I hope to post a blog a day. I pray to God for the discipline. Of the fruit of the Spirit, patience and self control are the two I have always had a problem with.
Jesus loves Franklin Graham. He has given him incredible gifts but he has to use it to show the light of Christ not to whitewash a tomb.
I am urging my readers to donate to Franklin Graham’s association. To write checks and letters that have Biblical resonance. Urging him to speak out against Trump and demanding a refund if he doesn’t. At the end of each blog, I will give an example.
