I have been trying to reach out to Rev. Graham and his supporters. I still think that he could be one of God’s greatest voices since Charles Finney. He could fight both the rising tide of secularism and the apostasy that is Trumpian Christianity. But each day I get closer to the position that he is lost. I pray I am wrong but his response to what happened in Charlottesville sickened me.
Trump and his ilk, Bannon, Miller, and Gorka trade in fear and hate. “Mexicans are drug dealers and rapists, some I guess are good people”, you have an immigration policy that will prevent any refugees from escaping war torn nations, including Christians. A pastor whose only crime was coming to America undocumented but had a stellar lure since is being deported. And Graham is silent. But yesterday he wasn’t. This is what this defender of Christ said.
Shame on the politicians who are trying to push blame on President Trump for what happened in #Charlottesville, VA. That’s absurd. No it is not, he is the leader of the nation, he sets the tone and he has never spoken out directly against the racists in the alt-right without caveats. What about the politicians such as the city council who voted to remove a memorial that had been in place since 1924, regardless of the possible repercussions? A statue that was built to honor the confederacy, a failed nation that seceded because slavery would not expand and they would lose political power. They defended the indefensible. How about the city politicians who issued the permit for the lawful demonstration to defend the statue? I agree that was unwise but that is part of living in a democracy. And why didn’t the mayor or the governor see that a powder keg was about to explode and stop it before it got started? Instead they want to blame President Donald J. Trump for everything. Really, this boils down to evil in people’s hearts. It is about people’s sinful hearts. It is also about speaking up against the evil in Donald Trump’s heart. He has shown no love, no mercy, no justice, no kindness. He has shown the opposite of the fruit of the flesh, yet you defend this man. Satan is behind it all.He wants division, he wants unrest, he wants violence and hatred. Yes he does, but we must speak up against wickedness in all of it’s forms, even if it may lose you support. He’s the enemy of peace and unity. I denounce bigotry and racism of every form, be it black, white or any other. My prayer is that our nation will come together. We are stronger together, and our answers lie in turning to God. We agree on this but we can’t come back to God by coddling and accepting and turning our back on sin. It was good to hear that several Virginia and Charlottesville leaders attended church today at Mt. Zion. CNN said, “The racial divides that fueled Saturday’s violence were replaced by unity Sunday…” Continue to pray for peace and for all those impacted by Saturday’s tragedies.
Please I pray for our nation. I pray for Donald Trump. I pray for you. I pray for the atheist who sees you speaking out against racism but is supporting a White House that is based on white pride and nationalism. Be a Man of God, throw away any national pride.
Show the atheists that they are wrong. Do not be afraid, remember what Jesus said in Luke 6 Blessed are those who are hated and cursed because the name of Jesus, because that is the way they treated the prophets.
God Bless you Franklin Graham and do the right thing. Before it’s too late
