There is an old saying, “It is not the crime but the coverup that will get you”. The same thing is with sin. It is not the sin but the hypocrisy.
I can not judge another person’s sexual sins. Not with my struggles. But when you start judging others on their sins. When you talk about Christian morality while supporting Trump. When you attack a man in a committed marriage who just happens to be gay as a sexual degenerate you lose all rights to judge. I am not judging your sins, I am judging your hypocrisy.

Now Trump was no choir boy before this came out. He was accused of sexual misconduct by a dozen women. Some that he said he never knew, some that he had pictures with. This is a thrice married man who cheated on two of his wives. But this Access Hollywood tape, that was something else. He bragged about trying to commit adultery on his third wife. “I went on her like a bitch.” “Grab em by the pussy”. That tape should have been enough for Franklin Graham, Robert Jeffess, Lindsay Graham et all to just say “its not worth it. I am not voting for Hillary but I am not voting for this man.
For more than twenty years these were the people that said sexual morality matters. “If a man can’t be faithful to his wife, you can’t expect him to be faithful to the nation.” Those who attacked Bill Clinton for his sexual sins and borderline crimes were calling the tape “disturbing but just locker talk”
He was not making lewd sexual comments. He was going on about how he tried to commit adultery. He did make a public apology. After midnight but he didn’t apologize for trying to get it on while he was married with a married woman. He apologized for “using bad language” and then he started attacking Bill Clinton on his sexual sins. That video is the epitome of hypocrisy.
Ok I understand they held their nose and voted against Clinton, the lesser of two evils in their opinion. I voted for neither. I voted for McMullin. But at least they could be honest. If they said “Yes, Donald Trump is an adulterer and a philander but he will give us the Supreme Court. So we are ok with being hypocrites as long as what we want done.” But they didn’t do that.
But I think the nail on the coffin for the religious right and their moral crusade against sexual immorality happened when it came out that Trump’s fixer paid a porn star to be quiet about their affair during an election year. If a democrat did that the Republicans would scream for the democrat’s impeachment.
This is one thing that I don’t understand. If the evangelical right would support impeachment, they would get Mike Pence, one of their own as president. Although he is tainted by yoking himself with Trump. His social policies would be the same as Trump’s. But do they do that? NO! They double down on Trump. They say he is chosen by God. They call him a modern day King Cyrus. A gentile leader who will save American Christianity.
One thing that I hate is when the religious right compares Donald Trump to King David. Yes King David committed adultery and murder but he repented. Trump has never repented from anything. I have written blogs and made videos about homosexuality. How I believe through context that the Bible was condemning cultic prostitution, forced sodomy (actually forced sodomy is redundant. Because the wicked men who wanted to rape the angels to put them in their place and the wicked men in Judges 19 who wanted to rape the stranger that the Levite gave hospitality to is the sin of sodomy) and the Greek practice of older men having sex with teenagers. The Bible doesn’t condemn nor endorse same sex marriage. I support it because I believe if two people love each other they should be able to spend the rest of their lives together and get the benefits that straight couples do.
I also think that social conservatives should support it because those in committed marriages are less likely to engage in “the gay lifestyle”. It is like the religious right are stuck in the late 70’s and early 80’s and believe that “the gay lifestyle” is the bathhouse culture of indiscriminate sex and drug use. Like Robin Williams said in “Man of the Year”.

You compare Mayor Pete Buttigieg to Donald Trump. You have a man in a loving marriage, a veteran, a Rhodes scholar and an Episcopalian who loves the Lord and actually follows His teachings versus a thrice divorced draft dodger who bragged about trying to commit adultery and paid off two porn stars and is everything that God warned us against.
And who of the two are the religious right calling a sexual degenerate, a threat to America’s sexual morality? The man who violated his sacred married vows at least 3 times and bragged about “grabbing women by the pussy” or the man in a loving committed marriage. Of course it is Mayor Pete.
I would love to see that presidential race. It would be a match of true opposites. But I do have to say something that may be controversial after thinking about it. I think that there is something about Mayor Pete that I find very disturbing and that may make it very hard for me to support him as president. He is a millennial and younger than me. I don’t know if I am ready to vote for president a man who is younger than me. But for the good of my country I may have to put my vanity aside and vote for a man who was is too young to remember rocking out to Walk Like An Egyptian, to have a crush on Punky Brewster, or to have seen Back to the Future in the theater and understand and enjoy it.And you know what that might not be a bad thing.
And my best friend Dok agrees and wanted me add. He never watched Gobots, the Real Ghostbusters, Garfield and Friends, Rainbow Bright, or Gem and the Holograms, or played Duck Hunt on Nintendo but he would also bite the bullet and vote for someone younger than him.
